You select your preference in-app before the 1st of each month, based on Singapore Time. Any change made on or after the 1st takes effect the following month. For new cardmembers, cashback is set as the default, and if no selection is made, the previous month's choice carries forward. Rewards are credited to your account by the 10th of the following month.
